Encouraging Wellbeing Through Exercise

PLC Lighthouse fitness and group classes provide an opportunity for students to engage in physical activities beyond the Physical Education and Health curriculum. In addition, PLC students, parents and staff can participate and enjoy these fitness classes within our custom-built facilities.

All PLC Lighthouse fitness and group classes are run by O2Active’s team of experienced and qualified Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEP), fitness and wellness trainers. Read more about O2 Active below.

Booking a Class

  • Open classes (open to Senior School students, staff and parents) are booked through O2 Active, either via their smartphone app or website. Please find instructions below. 

Download and set up the O2 Active App

  1. Download the O2 Active App from the Google PLAY store or the App Store.
  2. Log in.
  3. Create an account.
  4. The PLC classes are under the “Classes” tab.
  5. Click the pink search tool on the bottom right.
  6. Click on 'class type' and select 'PLC Lighthouse Open'. 
  7. Click on the chosen class.
  8. 'Book Class'
  9. Choose 'casual class' or '10 class term'. 
  10. 'Buy services'
  11. 'Checkout.
  12. Enter credit card details.

  • Junior School

    Yoga Bears (Pre-Primary - Year 3)

    Yoga Bears is about making shapes, developing spatial awareness, igniting imagination, building trust, and exploring confidence and a positive mindset. Children will develop strength, balance, co-ordination and awareness of their breath, bodies, thoughts and emotions. Yoga Bears will also help them learn about respect for each other’s space and trusting friends.

    Kinder Karate (Pre-Kindergarten - Year 1)

    Kinder Karate Kids classes will combine basic martial arts and gymnastics skills, co-ordination development and healthy play. Children will learn about safe karate movements while improving their self-confidence and ability to focus. They will also be taught about being calm and confident, being kind, personal boundaries, stranger danger and how to avoid dangerous situations.

    No uniforms or costumes are required, just comfortable clothes they can easily move in.

    Fit, Fun and Pilates (Years 1 - 4)

    Fit Fun & Pilates is all about promoting a healthy lifestyle, positive body and getting your children to be confident and physically active. The programme is non-competitive and based around fun, fitness, games, core strengthening and flexibility. Variety is key in the Kid Fit program. Girls will be able to experience a range of activities, try a multitude of fun activities and have more confidence within themselves to either transition into streamed sports, or just be active and healthy!

    Dance Mix (Years 6 - 10)

    Get your groove on, sweat away your stresses and get moving with a fun and uplifting Dance MIX class. Combining the latest moves from music clips, Hip Hop and Zumba, this class is perfect for dancers of all abilities who want to have fun. In Dance MIX you will learn new dance routines and finish with a core-conditioning workout.

    Fit Fun (Pre-Primary - Year 3)

    Fit Fun is strength and conditioning programme that is all about helping your child develop the strength and control needed for safe play and exploration. This programme will help children reach important strength milestones through fun and functional activities such as playground circuits, animal imitation games and friendly competitions.

    Funky Jazzerina (Pre-Primary - Year 3)

    This class is all about fun, improvisation and building confidence, while developing great dance foundations. Funky Jazzerina teaches children the basic fundamentals of jazz dancing, exposes them to a wide variety of music and encourages imaginative and expressive movement.

    Konga (Years 6 - 12)

    Konga is an easy-to-follow, high intensity fusion of boxing, cardio, dance and sculpting set to music from all decades. Expect to squat, burpee, sprint and sweat while some big tunes transport you to your happy place, no matter your fitness level or dance ability.

    Wonder Woman Cadets (Years 3 – 6)

    A strength and conditioning programme that targets whole body development to aid performance in personal sporting endeavours and help build self-confidence through body awareness and control. These classes are fun, supportive and encourage the development of a healthy and positive body image.

    Come and do team fun workouts, circuits, boxing drills, dance fitness, learn about positive body image and increase self-confidence. We will make fitness feel good. In our non-competitive classes as we increase fitness, strength, endurance, muscle development, promote healthy body image and teach them that fitness should be fun, for everyone and forever.

    Boxilates

    Boxilates combines boxing and pilates to challenge your strength, co-ordination, flexibility and get your heart rate up. It is an interval-style workout that switches between cardio boxing and slow, controlled Pilates core exercises. The class is positive, uplifting and you'll work up a sweat to some great music.

    Boxing Fitness

    This class will get your heart rate pumping. You'll start with a warmup and then go through the basics—jabs, hooks, uppercuts— along with how to successfully duck a punch. After learning the skills, you partner up and try the new moves out with some conditioning and interval training, as well as an ab workout.

    Find your core, challenge your body and change your life. Our Pilates classes are a series of spring-resistance based exercises used for deep muscles strengthening, stabilising and development. Our Pilates classes are designed to improve postural alignment, challenge strength and flexibility whilst still maintaining a strong foundation of techniques. The class is adaptable to suit a range of Pilates experience and fitness level and options will be given to challenge all participants. Classes and Costs

    Dance MIX

    Martial Arts

    Through Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, students will learn self-defence skills and build confidence, body awareness, balance, discipline and self-control. Taught by Jess, who holds a second dan black belt in Taekwondo and is trained in mixed martial arts (MMA), kickboxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, this class will show that lessons learnt on the mat can have a life changing effect.

    Yoga

    Yoga is designed to help you create a positive mind frame and develop strength, flexibility, mindfulness and a sense of calm. You will leave Yoga feeling physically and spiritually invigorated. Led by a qualified instructor who will help you learn a safe and stable foundation for yoga practice, this class is suitable for beginners to advanced yoga students.

    Zumba

    Love to dance, sweat and move? Then get ready to turn it up! Zumba is a dance based fitness party where the energy is contagious and the instructor will have you grooving and dancing along to easy to follow choreography.

    The ultimate full body challenge… are you willing to take it on? A 45 minute high energy spinning class finishing with 10 minute core toning segments to give you a full body work out. You will walk away for the high-energy atmosphere feeling strong and with that endorphin high.

    Boxilates

    Core & Restore

    This class is a series of postures and exercises that focus on strengthening, breathing and core work. The second half of the class is designed to stretch, open out those muscles and joints, alleviate soreness, work the connective tissue and  give your mind a well deserved break from the everyday stress it experiences.

About O2 Active

O2 Active is a fitness, health and wellness business that has operated in Perth, Western Australia since 2000. 

Its dedicated team of university-qualified Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs), fitness trainers and wellness professionals run the numerous group fitness classes available at the PLC Lighthouse.

The O2 Active team have collaboratively designed a unique health and fitness programme, tailored to the various Year groups for the PLC Lighthouse.

Fitness Centre

Students in Years 10-12 will be able to use the Cardio Room before and after school starting in Term Two.

Open times: Monday to Friday, 6.00 am - 7.00 pm.

You will need to tag in and out on the iPad in the Lighthouse reception. 

Before you can use the cardio equipment on Level 2 you must have an induction on how to use the Ergo machines and Treadmills. you must also read and agree to the Fitness Centre Policy.

Inductions will take place in your physical education classes between now and the end of Term One.
