Lighthouse Community Conversation with Dr Rob Andrew, Domestic Violence counsellor.

Do you know how to talk to your children about domestic violence?

Parents are invited to come along to the Lighthouse guest speaker evening, on Wednesday 3 July, to hear from Dr Rob Andrew. He is coming to PLC to speak to parents about how his work in the area of domestic violence counselling and his strategy to help prevent it – “the no test”.

Dr Rob touts his theory of an early warning strategy to alert young girls and women to early signs of power and control from their male partners. He will teach parents how to support their daughters to notice the behaviour of their boyfriends when they say no to small things early on in the relationship. This may save them from an abusive relationship later.

Dr Rob will be speaking to the Year 12 girls on Friday 5 July, during Health and Wellbeing class, and the Year 11s in term 3. This parent night is a great way for parents to get involved, and will equip them to be able to have informative and helpful conversations with their children and young people.

Mindfulness and Emotions Parent Workshops

Join PLC Psychologist, Jessica Lethbridge over four workshops and learn how to apply mindfulness skills to daily situations in which we need to tolerate distress and manage our emotions effectively.
