PLC OCA 100 Year Celebration

It’s rare for a PLC girl to cancel a party, but unfortunately, this is exactly what happened when a global pandemic and WA Government restrictions forced the Old Collegians’ Association centenary soiree scheduled for April 2020 to be postponed.

But as OCA President, Jessamy Mahoney, told the over 300 guests at the rescheduled event on Sunday 22 November 2020, as soon as restrictions eased, planning resumed.

With a new location of the Main Quad and a change in format to a high tea, Collegians gathered to celebrate the one-hundred-year milestone of the existence of the OCA.

“Interestingly, after trawling through decades of OCA records, I discovered the last time an OCA event was canceled was in 1968 due to the Asian Flu pandemic,” reflected Jessamy.

There was more than one reason to celebrate on the day, with Old Collegian and recent centenarian Coral Thomas (1937) cutting the cake. The significance of the oldest Old Collegian at 100 years old cutting the cake to mark the 100th anniversary of the OCA was not lost on the PLC community.
