Raising money with the World’s Greatest Shave, over 70 PLC students have shaved or cut their hair, so far, raising over $26,000.
What is usually a vibrant and team-spirited event with Scotch College, 2020 couldn’t be quite the same. In light of the current social distancing recommendations, students took to their phones to share their hair cutting journeys with each other.
PLC’s Head of Service and Community Partnerships, Linda Malone hasn’t let this year’s challenges get in the way, encouraging students to share their journeys online with one another.
“We need to find purpose and meaning in this uncertain time, and with the World’s Greatest Shave being a big part of PLC, connecting and sharing our journeys with one another is more important now, than ever.”
One particular student, Stella, has shown true determination and support for service by still partaking in the World’s Greatest Shave, all the way from her home in China, where she has been isolated since the outbreak of COVID-19 late last year!
Service Captain, Bella has been impressed with the number of students participating this year, despite the event not going ahead.
“With all of us going through a really strange time at the moment, it’s easy to forget about people within our community who may be struggling more. It’s really important to remember those less fortunate and support them in any way we can”.
