OCA Art Exhibition Major Sponsors
Thank you to our Old Collegians and Major Sponsors: Siobhan Way (1989) for a stunning sapphire and pink gold pendant for the raffle, Liz Towner (Clarke 1958) from Flametree for providing wine for the Opening Night and Jody Fewster (Bond 1983) from Acton for her sponsorship of the Exhibition.
Major Sponsor Profile: Liz Towner - Flametree
Margaret River winery, Flametree, owned by the Towner Family, has had extraordinary success since its first vintage in 2007. The usual practice of planting a vineyard and then finding someone to make the wine was turned on its head: a state-of-the-art winery was built, and grape purchase agreements signed with growers in the region. Gold medal after gold medal and trophy after trophy followed. Topped by the winning of the Jimmy Watson Trophy with its first red wine, the 2007 Cabernet Merlot. If all this were not enough, Flametree has since secured the services of former long-serving winemaker at Voyager Estate, Cliff Royle.
James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion - 2015 Edition
Two generations of the West Australian bred Towner family created Flametree Wines in 2007 with a state of the art winery and fresh, contemporary cellar door, located on the picturesque shores of Geographe Bay, at the gateway to one of the world's great wine producing regions – the Margaret River Wine Region.
The Flametree is an Australian native tree that provides a spectacular display of flowers. However it only blooms if the conditions affecting climate, soil, frost, wind and place of planting are in harmony. Flametree Wines feels the same about making wine. Perfume, structure and elegance are the three essential elements to produce beautifully crafted and distinct wines. These are represented by the three leaves in the Flametree logo.
A hands on and value adding approach to winemaking sees fruit sourced from the best available vineyards in the region, crafting a distinctive house style rather than relying on Estate sites. This innovative model allows a relative new player to join the top echelon of regional wineries, achieving pedigree through its grower’s vine maturity and winemaking team’s experience.
By winning the Jimmy Watson Trophy with its very first wine, the 2007 Cabernet Merlot, Flametree established its vision of producing first-rate Australian wines of uncompromising quality and character. Being a finalist again the following year with the 2008 Cabernet Merlot proved Flametree Wines was deserving of this prestigious award.
Flametree Wines has been a five star rating in James Halliday’s definitive Australian Wine Companion since 2012, reflecting the number of outstanding wines in their portfolio.
Flametree’s white wines have also captured the world’s imagination with the 2014 vintage SRS Wallcliffe Chardonnay placing in the top 10 in James Suckling’s Top 100 Wines of the World 2015.
The Cellar Door is a stunning Hampton beach house style offering relaxed, informative wine tastings, an open fire, spacious deck area and a beautiful lawn area for the kids to run around. Flametree Wines even offer make your own gourmet platters with exquisite local produce which you can enjoy with a glass of wine.
Currently exports to Canada, UK, Norway, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, PNG and Fiji.

Major Sponsor Profile: PLC’s Gem – Siobhan Way
Ever dreamt of a life where you combine your passion for design and beautiful gemstones with loads of travel …. well one incredibly talented PLC old girl, Siobhan Way, is doing just that.
Siobhan is one of Australia’s leading independent jewellers and has been designing and crafting her coveted limited-edition range of fine jewellery since 2007. Siobhan’s minimal yet vibrant design sensibility captured the attention of high-profile clients, stylists and editors alike, with her work featured in Vogue, Harpers Bazaar and other national publications.
A qualified gemmologist, Siobhan’s fascination for jewellery and gemstones began when she was a young girl, a love nurtured by both of her grandmothers. One was a talented silversmith in her own right and the other, of Chinese heritage, had a penchant for jade and gold.
Siobhan’s career has taken her to far-flung and exotic locations, with her collections reflecting design adventures that stretch from the remote outback in search of Australian black jade; to Thailand for beautiful semi-precious stones including citrine, smoky quartz and amethyst; continental Europe for the finest gold chain; and ancient Burma (now Myanmar) for striking sapphires and spinels. Imagine adventuring around the world to procure the finest gemstones for your valued and loyal customers…..just another day in Siobhan’s life.
With her late mother Margaret Beverley Way (North 1957) and sister Mischa Way (1986) being old PLC girls too, Siobhan has always kept her connection to PLC strong since graduation in 1989 and continues to support PLC through her generous donation of fine jewellery pieces. This year Siobhan has generously donated the beautiful handcrafted Pétale Pendant with 18ct pink gold and pavé set round brilliant cut sapphires on an 18ct pink gold chain for the upcoming PLC OCA Art Exhibition raffle.
