Liz Towner of Flametree Wines Returns for Fourth Year

Liz Towner (Clarke 1958) is the adored matriarch of both the Towner family and Flametree Wines and her family ties with PLC span generations. It’s her love for her family and her PLC pride that sees Liz return for her fourth year as one of the major sponsors of the OCA Art Exhibition for 2022.

Liz’s family connection to PLC dates back to 1919 when her Great Aunt Maud Sholl attended PLC. Throughout the years, five generations of Liz’s extended family have attended PLC. Liz attended herself as a boarder from 1955 to 1958. Liz’s granddaughter, Maddie, is a current student at PLC in Year 9 and is thoroughly enjoying sport and drama.

During Liz’s time at PLC, Art was one of her favourite subjects so supporting the OCA Art Exhibition seems a perfect fit.

“Personally, supporting the OCA Art Exhibition through our family business Flametree Wines fills me with a great sense of pride. Professionally, it introduces our label to the broader community and enables them to sample some of our great wines.”

The OCA Art Exhibition is held on Friday 26 August until Sunday 28 August showcasing artworks available for purchase created by members of the wider PLC community. Click here for tickets and more information.

About Flamtree Wines:

Two generations of the West Australian-bred Towner family created Flametree Wines in 2007, with a state-of-the-art winery and contemporary cellar door, located on the picturesque shores of Geographe Bay, at the gateway to the world-renowned Margaret River Wine Region.

The Flametree is native to Australia and provides a spectacular display of flowers. However, it only blooms if the conditions affecting climate, soil, frost, wind, and place of planting are in harmony. Flametree Wines feel the same about making wine. Perfume, structure, and elegance are the three essential elements to producing beautifully crafted and distinct wines. These are represented by the three leaves in the Flametree logo.

By winning the Jimmy Watson Trophy with its very first wine, the 2007 Cabernet Merlot, Flametree established its vision of producing first-rate Australian wines of uncompromising quality and character. Named as a finalist the following year proved Flametree Wines was deserving of this prestigious award.

Flametree Wines has been a five-star rating in James Halliday’s definitive Australian Wine Companion since 2012, and its 2014 vintage SRS Wallcliffe Chardonnay placed in the top 10 in James Suckling’s Top 100 Wines of the World in 2015.

The Hamptons-style Cellar Door offers relaxed wine tastings on a spacious deck, and a beautiful lawn area for the kids to run around on. Gourmet platters with exquisite local produce are available for you to enjoy with a glass of wine.
