With the help of OzHarvest, all excess food from Farm2Fork, held on Saturday 25 August, will be distributed to people in need across Perth.
Founded in 2004 by Ronni Kahn, OzHarvest is the leading food rescue organisation in Australia, collecting quality excess food from commercial outlets and delivering it direct to charities who support people in need across Australia.
Since 2004, OzHarvest has delivered over 60 million meals and saved more than 20,000 tonnes of food from ending up in landfill.
OzHarvest also addresses food security and education through NEST and Nourish programmes. NEST provides nutrition education and sustenance training to vulnerable Australians. Nourish trains and mentors disadvantaged youth for a Certificate II in Hospitality.
Australians throw out over $8 billion worth of edible food every year, which is approximately 345kg per household. OzHarvest also focuses on engaging with the community and embracing innovative approaches to minimise food waste.
