Our fabulous PLC Parents are busy behind the scenes locking in fabulous entertainment for this year’s Open Garden Day and it will be featured below once it has been confirmed.

Emma van Schouwen

Beautiful singing by recent PLC graduate, Emma van Schouwen, will delight your ears from 12.00 – 12.30 pm, as you peruse some of Peppermint Grove’s most spectacular gardens.

Emma was PLC 2020 Arts Captain and a recipient of Vocal Music Bursary in 2019-2020. While studying IB Music HL in her final years at PLC, Emma had the opportunity to write, create, learn and perform among numerous professional musicians at multiple events and excelled as the School’s highest score.

“Confident stage presence and opening phrasing. Good tonal control in the opening section, your warm tone is very expressive with the opening dynamic phrases. Your vocal tone was very controlled and expressive at each dynamic level. Well done” – Mr Steve Searle, WAM Adjudicator.

The Burbs
Playing at 10.00 am – 10.45 am, ‘The Burbs’ consist of vocalist and PLC parent Sha van de Veire and guitarist and PLC parent, Andrew Row.
What began as a handful of PLC parents and colleagues gathering every other month to play loud rock music from their youth, morphed into The Burbs as Andrew and Sha explore acoustic versions of their favourite songs, performing them at gigs and functions for friends and the community.
“Having been a parent at PLC for the last 5 years, it’s a fun alternative way of contributing to the Open Garden Day apart from selling raffle tickets or preserves as I did in previous years” – Sha van de Veire.
“We really enjoy seeing people’s reactions when we play those classic songs from the 80s and 90s that everyone loves but with a bit of a Sunday-sunset vibe” – Andrew Row.
