We are so excited to reveal that Year 5 classroom teacher Anita Roy has been named a finalist in the 2021 Australian Educator of the Year Awards.
Ms Roy’s exceptional teaching practices, particularly in mathematics, have been identified as standout pedagogy and has earned her the finalist gong in the category for Primary School Teacher of the Year – Non-Government School.
Principal Cate Begbie said the recognition of Ms Roy’s outstanding efforts as a Junior School teacher was something Ms Roy, PLC staff, and our students could be very proud of.
Head of Junior School Richard Wright said Ms Roy ignited a love of maths in previously reluctant mathematicians and that she regularly evaluated the effectiveness of her classroom programmes to use the results to mentor and support her colleagues.
Well done Ms Roy. We wish you the best of luck for the Awards, which will be held at a gala dinner in Sydney at the end of August.
