Educating for the world of today means that our students need to be confident and wise users of information and communication technologies, including computers and multi media. Information literacy is a critical skill for accessing and using the wealth of information now so readily available to all.
PLC is a 21st Century connected learning community, available anywhere anytime. The School incorporates an agile and innovative teaching and learning environment with contemporary information and learning technologies and an embedded skills curriculum.
PLC staff and students have a variety of technologies available to enhance the teaching and learning programme. Since 1994, students in Years 5 to 12 have had their own laptop computer for use at school and at home and computing is integrated into all subject areas. Students in Pre-Kindergarten to Year 4 have access to iPod Touches and iPads. Staff and students in Years 11 and 12 also have access to iPod Touches, iPads or iPhones.
At the same time, students are educated about being responsible users of the Internet and technology through clear guidelines and restrictions, a targeted cyber-bullying programme and ongoing monitoring.
PLC also has dedicated media labs and professional quality software, such as Final CutPro and the latest Adobe Creative Suite. Classrooms are equipped with the latest technologies including interactive whiteboards, interactive projectors, digital projectors, colour printing and large-format printing facilities.
